Teach English in Italy in exchange for room and board.
A unique opportunity to “live” the Italian culture!

The programs offered by International Experience offer the satisfaction of helping people learn English. It also offers a way to broaden your world-view, strengthen your resume and experience the Italian life from “the inside”, and not like a tourist.

TESTIMONIALS

“Coming to Marche opened my eyes to a region of Italy I wouldn’t normally visit. This is truly the hidden jewel of Italy. Full of the warmest and welcoming people, delicious cuisine, and the beautiful Adriatic Coast. But most importantly, living in Italy to help improve an individual’s English proficiency has undeniably impacted my life. I learned more about myself in two months than in four years of university.”

Monica Vaccari, USA, Family Experience

“Working through International Experience was one of the most rewarding and blessed experiences I have ever had. I had wonderful support with everyone I was in contact with as I prepared for my trip, as well as continued contact with coordinators throughout my stay to ensure I was well and had no trouble. There are many organizations out there that could get you overseas, but I believe International Experience gave me the best experience I could possibly have. I fell in love with my family and feel like we truly built a long-lasting relationship. I am already recommending International Experience to friends who want to travel and live overseas.”

Jodi Buswell, USA, Family Experience

Taking part in this program has been an amazing experience for me; Italy is an amazing place filled with loving and caring individuals, amazing scenery and the best food ever – I can truly say that I found a home away from home.  My host family has received me with open arms and has been more than willing to help me out during my time here.  I’ve learnt a great deal about Italy, its culture, its language, its traditions, its school system and most importantly about me.  I can truly say that in these three months I’ve grown as an individual and that I will never be the same.  Amazed at how only one program can give you all that.

Daniel A. Meza Rincon

I had a very positive experience working with International Experience. They were very helpful in answering any questions I had before and during my stay in Italy. I wanted to participate in a program in which I could have the experience of staying with an Italian host family and also the possibility to become an English tutor in a school. International Experience was able to create a program in which I worked 17 hours a week in an elementary and middle school and tutored in the home for about 3 hours a week. During the week I would work on my lessons and practice my Italian and then, on the weekends, I would travel to other regions and explore. Thanks to International Experience I had a wonderful time in Italy and memories that will last a lifetime.

Silverio Scarogni, USA, School Experience

“The fun and warmth of the Italian people; the energy and beauty of their children; the dedication, passion and receptivity of their teachers; the Italian culture, traditions, and oh the food; the landscape and history of the cities and countryside; along with the depth of the Italian peoples’ value of family, religion and country wove an incredible experience for me that has become a highlight of my life. Thank you.”

Jan Corban, USA, School Experience

“My Porto San Giorgio tutoring experience was extraordinary! My contact person was so supportive, available and helpful in every way. It surpassed my expectations and fulfilled my dream of living in Italy for a month. Interacting with the local residents, teaching in the schools, exploring this beautiful area and practicing my Italian were some highlights of this adventure! I would highly recommend this professional organization if you are considering this type of adventure.”

Debra De Mella, USA, School Experience

“Being a English tutor in Italy was an amazing experience. The Italian people and children were so loving and welcoming to me. I taught English in three Italian primary schools . Although I thought I was the one doing the teaching , I found out I was the one who came away with a profound learning experience. Teaching children gave me a priceless reward . Italy offers culture, wonderful food and incredible experiences that you will never forget for the rest of your life. I am forever changed by my teaching experience in Italy and my association with International Experience Agency.”

Peggy Anderson, Canada, School Experience

My husband and I have just returned from a month of working in the International Experience’s Program in the Marche Region of Italy. The experience was rich for cultural immersion. We found ourselves living in the stunning countryside at a magical villa. We were treated to Italian hospitality including homemade pasta, wine and olives. Our host grandmother shared the language of good food and great accommodations.

Working in four different schools within the town of Montecosaro allowed us to share English with 15 classes of students from 8-year-olds to 14-year-olds. There was much enthusiasm and excitement involved in our classroom visits. We shared lessons on American holidays, currency, climate, family life, and geography. Although we were labeled “tutors”, we often found ourselves in the role of classroom teacher. Sometimes we were supported with translation by the Italian teacher, sometimes not. Initially this created considerable apprehension because we knew no Italian and the students had a low level of English. As the days progressed we encouraged our role to be one of support rather than lead in the classroom.

Non-teaching days included weekends and one weekday. With the help of our Italian hosts and a rental car, we were able to investigate many sites in the Marche Region. Intentionally, we were not interested in going to big, familiar cities. Part of the reason for spending time working in the schools was for the opportunity to see Italy as Italians do. The warm reception we received from the Italian people was remarkable in our shopping, eating out and site-seeing adventures. Walking through the cobblestone streets of a town, strolling the piazzas, stopping to observe an olive harvest, enjoying a cappuccino, verdicchio wine or olives all’ascolana were treats of this trip, and unique to traveling as conversation corp volunteers rather than as tourists. This opportunity was rich! The connections we made with the local people were heart-warming and placed this experience as a top-notch way to travel. It compares more favorably than tourist travel. It is much more memorable and immersive. We have built relationships with our hosts and will enjoy future exchanges with them for a long time to come.

“‘You Can Camp’ is an incredible and unique opportunity for both the tutors and the kids involved. While having fun, playing games, and building friendships, both teacher and student are changed. By giving kids a passion for English at an early age, they are given tools that will greatly improve their chances of success later in life. As for the tutors, they are given the opportunity to change lives and have the experience of a lifetime in beautiful Italy. More than anything, it is a fun and exciting way for anyone to spend their summer.”

Claire Impecoven, USA, Camp Experience

“I recently participated in this program as a volunteer in Eastern Italy. I had an amazing experience that changed my life! Working with the children was challenging at times, but so rewarding. The parents were very appreciative and thrilled their children were learning English from native speakers. All the camp directors were very organized and attentive to details and the curriculum was well planned. I am a junior high teacher in the US and took away some great ideas I will use in my own classroom.

Outside of teaching, the boarding and meal accommodations were wonderful. I had more than enough time to explore the city and travel out of town on the weekends. I truly felt I was submerged in the Italian culture. I would definitely participate in this program again.”
